This is my very first blog entry for this particular blog. To be honest, when I came up with the idea, I wasn't sure what I wanted to write about. I knew that I wanted it to be a Christian blog, but I didn't know much else. It wasn't until a few days ago that I decided that I would write about my own experiences and struggles as a young, single, Christian woman.
With that being said, I thought I should start off by saying why I choose to be a Christian every morning when I wake up. With all the religions in the world, why would I, an intellectual, choose to believe in a God that I can't see that consists of three different, yet equal, entities?
The reality is that we all choose to believe in something. Some claim that science is definite and because of this, they put all of their faith on the things that they can see and touch. Others will tell you that they have not chosen a belief system because they simply do not have enough proof to believe in anything - and that, in itself is a belief system, whether or not they want to believe it. For me, I choose to believe in not just one Almighty God, but rather in the God who loves me so much, He gave His life to save me. The God who allowed 1/3 of the Godhead to be murdered, just to save me. The God who is with me to guide and comfort me each and every day.
You see, no matter what we choose to believe, there will be some unanswered questions. There will always be things that reach beyond human thought and reasoning. I choose to believe that, one day, I will sit face to face with Someone that can answer all of the questions that I can even imagine asking, and then some.
Simply put, I choose to be a Christian because I choose to believe that there is a purpose for my existence, even when I, myself, am not sure of what it is, and that there is Someone who loves me for me, even though I will never deserve that kind of love.
